To anyone who has ever doubted that traditional quilts are art: look at these photographs from the "Infinite Variety" exhibit of red and white quilts at the American Folk Art Museum in NYC. (Oh, how I wish I could see this in person!) The exhibit is on display through March 30, 2011.
The museum is encouraging all who attend to photograph the exhibit and post their photos on Flickr.com, so you can enjoy a full-screen slideshow by going here.
I'm loving what I've been seeing from this show. Not least of all, the way it's been hung! A great big kick in the pants for everyone stuck in the pole and drape mentality. While it's obviously not a practical way to hang a show like Houston's, it is inspirational, and is so appropriate here as it supports that look of infinity.
