Sound of a Summer Evening

Our guild's challenge this year is "The Sound of Quilting"...the idea is to make a quilt inspired by a sound or noise.

Here's my effort: "The Sound of a Summer Evening." This is one of the projects where all sorts of unexpected things happened along the way...some good, some bad. It's no masterpiece, but as my goal was to have SOMEthing for the challenge reveal on Sept. 15, I'm satisfied.

This may be the first quilt to which I add beads. I have some small irridescent seed beads that would accentuate the white water "drops" so I'll give those a try.

In my old neighborhood, when us kids wanted to cool off from the summers heat, we'd jump through sprinklers like these watering the lawn.

Thanks for bring back that pleasant memory with this beautiful quilt.

I'd love to see a close up of the beading if possible...;)

Here in Australia, the national museum was buying sprinklers last year - for display to future generations! Yep, sprinklers are now *banned* in a lot of towns, including where I live - water restrictions are such that we can't even water with a hose now, if we get to water gardens at all it's with a bucket and only on certain days and between certain times! I miss sprinklers.
